The controller is key element for any gaming console. While the controller available for PlayStation 3 looks identical to the current PlayStation 2 controller, user wrist movements can also be translated now into on screen movement - “but it’s based upon our industry standard controller, which has been enjoyed by so many gamers,” said Phil Harrison, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios. While Sony is offering two pricing options for consumers, corresponding to two PlayStation 3 models (Basic and Premium), the more expensive machine is much more feature rich, and it includes a HDMI Port, WI-FI and a Memory Stick Card Reader. A new core, the „Cell” processor, which makes the machine 35 times more powerful than the old PlayStation 2, powers the PlayStation 3 now. Those new reviewed key features of its new controller are showing a functionality that appears very similar to the one Nintendo will offer for the Wii.
